All about art leasing, with Sacerd'Art

For 10 years, Sacerd'Art has been assisting companies with their art leasing operations. Interview with Sébastien Dupeux, Head of Customer and Partner Relations.

What is art leasing?

The principle of art leasing is to make a work of art available to a professional structure, within the framework of a rental contract. The primary objective is to bring art into the company and enhance its premises and brand image. The artwork has a real impact on business premises, enhancing the space and making it more welcoming and personalized. At the end of the rental contract, the company can choose a new work of art, and start a new contract.

Who can lease art?

All professionals, whether companies or the self-employed, who have professional premises in which to exhibit the work and receive the public. Art leasing is different from patronage in that it is more accessible, especially to the self-employed, and because it involves leasing rather than buying.

How does leasing work?

The company has a free choice of artwork, and any work of art can be financed, provided it is referenced and certified by artists. We can also source a specific work if required.

There is a difference between purchasing and leasing. Leasing allows the company to rent the work. In concrete terms, from an accounting point of view, there is no valuation in the company's balance sheet. What's more, lease payments are deductible as an operating expense in the income statement. The tax base is therefore eliminated.

What does Sacerd'Art do?

Sacerd'Art assists companies and professionals in financing works of art, furniture, decoration and design. We don't belong to a gallery network, nor do we work with artists. This independence enables us to offer our customers advice, support and discretion. We act as a bridge between partners and customers, enabling leasing operations to be carried out.
