Meet Victoria Gandit-Lelandais, Director of External Relations

As part of the strengthening of the team around Jean-Daniel Compain and Léa Leclair, art historian Victoria Gandit-Lelandais embarks on the BAD+ adventure as Director of External Relations, Collector and Institutional Relations. She will be responsible for developing the show's national and international art and culture networks.

Could you describe your professional background?

For the past 20 years, I've been helping the major art fairs to develop their external relations: Art Dubai, Art Salon, Alserkal Avenue... I've also held positions at institutions such as Christie's and Hôtel Drouot, and at Yvon Lambert.

This dual expertise enabled me, five years ago, to set up my own cultural strategy consultancy, where I support private and institutional clients in their development and outreach (Groupe Terrot, Fondation Ullens, Art For Action, Abu Dhabi Art). In 2023, I directed the Gandit project, which worked on the façade of the new Paris headquarters of L'Institut Français.

In parallel, I also headed up institutional partnerships for LITO, a company linking Tech and Art, whose business is to generate new sources of revenue for museums using revolutionary digital scans and 3D printing.

What do you think of BAD+?

In my opinion, there is a real interest in decentralizing art events. Bordeaux is the perfect city to define the art of living through art and design, in a place steeped in history and rich in heritage. Bordeaux has a strong international resonance, making it an unmissable destination for a new art fair, and it would be a shame not to capitalize on this influence to create a dialogue around Culture in general.

It's up to us to make this third edition a unique moment when collectors, institutions, galleries and the general public meet once again in a privileged context, off the beaten track, in one of Europe's most beautiful cities, and with the desire to discover Art and Design... not forgetting wine, of course. This third edition is intended to be more assertive, with a clearer curatorial vision, a more assertive network and a group of participating galleries that reflect the region's dynamism.

What do you think of the contemporary art market in the region?

Bordeaux is THE world-famous wine capital, and it's also economically very dynamic, with a large number of châteaux and wine estates. It's only natural that many art enthusiasts are present here. The region has great public and private collections and institutions that are well worth a visit, such as the Musée des Beaux-Arts, the CAPC, the Cité du Vin, the FRAC and the Méca, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs et du Design, the Musée de la Création Franche, and many other independent venues and initiatives. These entities do a lot individually, but they needed a link to unite them, a time and a place where they could all come together to create a real Momentum. BAD+ and its VIP program do just that.
