The BAD+ Prizes

For its third edition, BAD+ Bordeaux Art and Design is partnering with two collaborators to establish two awards supporting the contemporary artistic scene.

The Château Kirwan Prize

For the first time, BAD+ is establishing an award in collaboration with a partner château. Château Kirwan is pioneering this new form of collaboration with the fair by committing to purchase a work from one of the exhibiting galleries. The artist will be announced during the gala dinner, taking place on Wednesday, May 29th at 8 p.m. at Hangar 14. This inaugural acquisition will join the château's collection, potentially supporting a new residency program in the years to come.

Château Kirwan has chosen to acquire a work by artist Valérie Sonnier, represented by Galerie Nadja Vilenne. This first purchase joins the Château's collection, which could be used in the coming years to support a new residency program.

The BEAM X EBABX Prize

The BEAM X EBABX Prize (Ecole Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Bordeaux) offers the winner, a former graduate in plastic and visual arts since 2018, a financial endowment of 5,000 euros financed by BEAM and EBABX. This endowment is supplemented by the organization of an exhibition during the BAD+ fair and in one of the partner châteaux or institutions.

From the beginning of the year until March 8th, artists applying for the BEAM X EBABX Prize were able to submit their work by providing a selection portfolio. A jury, consisting of members from both the BAD+ and EBABX teams, along with Benoît Maire, an artist graduated from the École des Beaux-Arts de Bordeaux, and a member of the project's sponsoring company, convened in April and selected 4 artists or designers. The artist Cristiano Codeço De Amorim is the winner of the Beam X EBABX Award, receiving a €5,000 prize.
