HdM Gallery

HdM GALLERY is a leading contemporary gallery specializing in contemporary Chinese art. Founded on a passion for Chinese art, the first HdM GALLERY was opened in Beijing in 2009 - the success of this opening led to the opening of another gallery in Hangzhou in 2013.

Founders and partners Hadrien de Montferrand, Laurent Dassault and Olivier Hervet have accumulated more than 10 years of experience and understanding of the Chinese art market, and have witnessed first-hand the rapid evolution of the Chinese art ecosystem.

HdM GALLERY is proud to represent a large number of emerging Chinese artists, including He An, Chen Han, Hao Shiming and Wang Yi. Having established its reputation as a leading gallery in the field of Chinese contemporary art - working with established Chinese artists such as Mao Yan and Liu Xiaodong - HdM GALLERY is dedicated to using its expertise to nurture and develop the careers of these new artists.

Regularly exhibiting at leading fairs such as Art Brussels, Photo London and Art Basel Hong Kong, HdM introduces contemporary Chinese artists to a global audience and broadens the perception, understanding and appreciation of these fascinating contemporary works.

Although initially specializing exclusively in Chinese art, the gallery's ethos has since evolved. HdM has evolved to work with renowned Western artists - often exhibiting their work alongside their Chinese contemporaries, bridging the gap between the Chinese and Western art markets with this previously unexplored approach. The result is an exhibition with a unique and exciting fusion of influences.

In this regard, founder Hadrien de Montferrand defines the gallery's identity as "an international gallery with a strong Chinese DNA. Western artists such as Martin Kollar, Ivan Messac, Romain Bernini, Manuel Mathieu and Barthélémy Toguo are currently represented by HdM GALLERY.
